Born in 1977 in Charleroi (BE)

With a degree in visual communications and graphics from the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, Jérôme Considérant first worked in printing, web design and lettering for advertising, where he had access to a database of pictograms, which have become characteristic of his work. In 2009, he won the Prix du Hainaut Arts Plastiques. Since 2000, this artist, who is continuously drawing, has had many public commissions and exhibitions in Belgium.

Jérôme Considérant hijacks the semantic logic of the pictogram and humorously anticipates the advent of a society that is as absurd as it is illiterate. His inexpressive and strangely familiar characters appear in outrageous scenes, leading to many questions. An element of sarcasm hides behind every image of so-called simple content, featuring classics of art history, the consumer society, the tyranny of gadgets, and ecological disorder. While Jérôme Considérant does indeed belong to the agitators of ideas and images in line with a certain tradition of Belgian art, his language is nonetheless subtly universal.
